Invisalign Q & A
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment that shifts your teeth into proper alignment with a series of clear, plastic aligners.
Over six million people worldwide have chosen to straighten their smile with Invisalign, making it an incredibly popular alternative to traditional metal braces that can get you the same results with less time and hassle.
What conditions does Invisalign treat?
Invisalign can treat many of the same orthodontic conditions as traditional metal braces, like:
- Crossbite
- Gap teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Overbite
- Open bite
- Underbite
Many patients also choose to undergo treatment with Invisalign to correct mild to moderate dental misalignments and achieve generally straighter teeth.
What is the process for Invisalign treatment?
If you and the team at Jones Family Dental decide to move forward with Invisalign treatment, the first thing you do is come in for an appointment to make an impression of your teeth.
Dr. Jones does this either with a traditional dental mold or an intraoral scanner that takes 3D pictures of your bite and smile. The impression is then sent off to a lab that uses it to make a virtual model of your teeth in their current alignment and their target alignment.
The lab then maps out a series of “steps” between your current alignment and target alignment and fabricates a series of clear plastic aligners modeled after these steps. These aligners fit snugly over your teeth and exert a small amount of pressure that gradually moves your teeth into your target alignment.
You wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, brush, or floss. Every two weeks, you move on to the next aligner in your series until you’ve reached your target alignment. Invisalign aligners can get your teeth in their target alignment in as little as nine months!
Why should I get Invisalign?
Invisalign is a state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment that has a number of advantages over traditional metal braces:
Discretion
Clear plastic Invisalign aligners are virtually undetectable to anybody who doesn’t know that you’re wearing them.
Faster results
You can get your teeth into their target alignment more quickly with Invisalign, up to 50% faster in some cases.
Easier brushing and flossing
There’s a whole set of tools and techniques that you need to master in order to keep your teeth clean while wearing braces. With Invisalign, you just pop out your aligner and brush and floss as normal.
Comfort
Invisalign aligners don’t shred the inside of your mouth like braces. The clear plastic material fits snugly around your teeth and feels smooth in your mouth.
Don’t wait to get your dream smile with Invisalign. Schedule your appointment today with Jones Family Dental and start moving towards a healthier, straighter smile. You can book your appointment by calling the office or scheduling online.
